Computer Basics: Info and Importance

Computers are now one of the integral parts of current modern education system. Ever since the world got this amazing piece of engineering, the world entered a paradigm of highly dynamic changes in physical and literal world. Today every industry is using computers; some are totally depending on these amazing machines. It made schools to add computer education a part of school education and schools introduced computers or say informatics practice as a subject in school education, later it had been added among major subject by education boards like CBSE and ICSE.

Now when a subject gets introduced in education system, it becomes the responsibility of various education companies to provide sufficient teaching and learning material to all the teachers and students for the students.

Today when e-learning and online education is on boom, the same responsibility comes to the education companies such as Classteacher Learning Systems, who are more into providing online study material to all the teachers and students.

Now first question that arises is, what is being taught in schools in computers as a subject?
The answer is basics. It is pretty obvious you won’t teach students complex things in the beginning, right? In
initial years, like after class sixth or so, teachers teach them about basics of computer.

Computer Basics:

Many techno geniuses are confused about defining Computer basics, but over all basic computer education includes general computer use, terminology, basic skills for using software programs, and describes the basic hardware components of a PC.

Most of the Computer Basic information providers and online education portals providing teaching and learning material include various topics in Computer basics which generally starts with following.

Definition of Computer:

A computer is an electronic device that wields information, or "data." It has the ability to store, retrieve, and process data. You can use a computer to type documents, send email, and browse the internet. You can also use it to handle spreadsheets, accounting, database management, presentations, games, and more.

Parts of Computer:

Computer has only two types of parts:
1.       Hardware: Any part of the computer with physical body, is hardware, it is like body of the computer. Parts like screen, keyboard, CPU, mouse, etc. are known as hardware part of the computer.
2.       Software: Software is like thought or thinking of computer. In proper definition a set of instructions and directions that drives computer hardware to various functions and tasks is known as a software or say software program. One of most common softwares we generally use is MS Office or MS Word that we use to create documents in computers.

History of Computers:

Knowing anything should start with knowing its history, thus most of the boards like CBSE included Computer history and different generations of computers in the computer basic education. History and different generations of computers is whole other topic that we will discuss some other time.

DOS:

DOS is one of the first things you use while learning about computer basics. Professionally known as disc operating system, is the default operating system of any computer. That one has to learn while going for basics of computer. It gives you the feel of using computer as a pro even if you are dealing in basics.
